However, the battery recycling process has affected people and the environment because of the negative health impact of lead and acid exposure. The treatment of wastewater, exhaust gas, and solid waste generated in the battery recycling process makes it a more complex issue. The recycling craft village in Dong Mai, Chi Dao commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen province has many production activities, including recycling waste batteries. This activity brings economic benefits to households but it also pollutes the environment. Applying a systematic and interdisciplinary approach based on field surveys and expert interviews and employing the non-traditional security equations, the current situation is assessed and solutions are proposed to overcome shortcomings in ensuring environmental security in the craft village. Results show that the environmental security management in the village has many limitations that need to be overcome.
